HOW TO BUY AT AUCTION - Passenger & Commercial Vehicles

At Manheim we have a large variety of cars to choose from and different ways you can buy them. Passenger & Commercial Vehicles are offered in weekly auctions and are also available for immediate purchase through BuyNow.

New auction catalogues are available each week to view online and you can inspect vehicles in person at Manheim, check our locations page for days and times.

THE PROCESS

Whether you’ve bought at auction before or not, it needn’t be daunting. The process is just 5 easy steps:

1. Register

Each time you participate and bid for a vehicle you must complete a ‘Buyer Registration Form’ available in the foyer and online here. You will need photo identification to register and receive your ‘Buyer Number’.

2. Bid

Raise your ‘Buyer Number’ or hand to gain the attention of the Auctioneer.

3. Deposit

If you are successful, you need to pay a deposit.

4. Pay

Finalise the balance of your invoice by the next business day after the auction.

5. Collect

Once you have finalised payment you can collect your vehicle. Vehicles must be collected no later than 4pm the day after sale.

USEFUL INFORMATION

Test Driving

For health and safety reasons, you are unable to test drive vehicles. Vehicle engines may be started by a Manheim team member on your behalf and all vehicles being auctioned are driven through the lanes except Salvage vehicles.
Vehicles

All vehicles are driven through the auction lanes and auctioned in the order they appear in the catalogue. Vehicles are road tested for basic driveability and the Road Test Report is displayed on each vehicle. Some vehicles also have a condition report.

All vehicles are checked against the Personal Property Security Register (PPSR) to check any encumbrance.
Unregistered Vehicles

It is illegal to drive an unregistered vehicle. Check with a Manheim team member for more information regarding registration.
Purchasing before Auction

Some vehicles are available to purchase for a fixed price without having to participate in auction. Vehicles available will be clearly identified or ask a Manheim team member for assistance.
Fees

Buyer Administration, Buyer Security and Handling Fees apply. GST is included unless otherwise indicated. Check on site, in auction catalogues or with cashiers for fees applicable to your vehicle.
